Witchblade: Another reason not to judge a book by it's cover.

Post by Blair Phoenix on Mon Dec 19, 2011 12:17 am

Disclaimer: This thread is for the anime series only. If you wish to discuss the comic series that inspired this anime, please feel free to make a new topic in the Other Entertainment section.

At first glance Witchblade has the appearance of a fan service heavy
action series, but at it's core it's a story about a single mother who
is willing to do anything for the sake of her only daughter.
Also this is one of the only series I will actively recommend you
watch the "Next Episode" segments, as it helps build the relationship
between mother and daughter.
I highly
recommend anyone to give this series a try, despite it's outward
appearance, the series has a lot of heart.

PS. To give fair warning, while not overly explicit, Witchblade does toe the line, so I suggest caution if you have an overly innocent mind.

I've seen the first several episodes of it. I admit, it's an interesting concept. Ben's a fan. ^_^

Ah, I knew you had started watching it novA, didn't know how far you got. Hopefully at some point you manage to finish it and give me your opinion on the whole thing Razz

Oh man! I loved/love Witchblade!
I didn't realize it was based off a comic until I started reading up on it after the third episode.

I remember always watching an episode every Thursday night on the Independent Film Channel my junior year of high school until the series ended. Too think I just started watching it because nothing else was on but the next thing I knew I got hooked!

Witchblade was beautiful! To me it didn't seem to drag anywhere. There was always something interesting going on.

I haven't seen it in forever though...Maybe I should watch it over the break...I have too many shows to catch up on...

I wouldn't say it dragged anywhere, but I think the excessive fan service in the beginning can throw people off enough that they don't realize their is an actual story there that's actually moving.

I actually got the set on sale recently for my mom.

Yes, my Mom is a Witchblade fan.

I should sit down and re-watch it....

Oh, you mom? That's...interesting lol. Surprising considering the front loaded fan service, but I guess your mom has an open mind ^^.

I definitely need to pick it up again. We stopped right about where the plot started because of time constraints, so I think I'm gonna suggest that next time I'm over at his place to watch stuff. And y'know, as fanservicey as the Witchblade "costumes" are, the designs are actually really cool. Not gonna lie there.

And Shane, that's kind of unusual that your mom's a fan, but awesome nonetheless. My mom's reaction of horror if she saw the series would be priceless...

Then again, if I become a mom in the future, I'd probably love Witchblade DVDs... Must be the generation gap. =P

My Mom got into anime a few years back, borrowing my DVDs. She likes interesting stories, and got into Witchblade. She also likes Hack//Sign

Oh? I really need to go and rewatch .Hack//sign at some point. I know the first time I watched it, I had no idea what the hell was going on. Was rather young then.

You're just crazy though novA Razz. Really though, considering a major theme of Witchblade has to do with motherhood, I think I can sort of understand why a mother would enjoy the series...as long as they can look past the fanservice Razz
